Mwamba Foundation was established in 2000 by Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chemengich who is now the siting bishop of the Anglican diocese of kitale together with Mrs. Dorcas Chemengich currently the kitale diocese Women ministry president and their friends in the United States of America (USA). Mwamba Foundation was recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2003.

Mwamba Foundation works towards transforming lives in the United States of America and in Kitale, Kenya by building mutual partnerships that enhance human capacity through education, sharing of resources and cultural exchanges. Mwamba is a swahili word for “rock”, expresses the stability Mwamba foundation seeks to establish in the Kenyan people. Mwamba works through communities and churches to transform the lives of the Kenyan people by:
- Funding scholarships and donating school supplies to ensure that poor children have access to educational opportunities;
- Financing Seminary scholarships and workshops, and equipping the Church Resource Center to develop and enhance church leaders;
- Promoting women’s development through entrepreneurial education.
